How does a young child develop?

Teaching Your ‘Whole Child’

Child development is usually separated into five areas:

Emotional Development
Intellectual Development
Physical Development
Social Development
Spiritual Development

Have you ever tried to save money by buying really cheap plastic wrap? Then you know that no matter how hard you try, it sticks to everything and you just can’t separate it. The stages and areas of child development are like that. The experiences that your child has in any one of the areas above have an inseparable impact on her growth in the other areas. Your child’s connection with you, the relationships she has with other people and her daily experiences come together to form what we call the “whole child.”

All of the areas of development above are equally important for the healthy development of your ‘whole child.’
